Neither peace nor devotion can be obtained through another; each one has to create and develop them for themselves. Still, one should also have the grace of the Lord, which is fundamental. As said in the Upanishads, “He whom He chooses gets it (Yameva vrunute tena labhyah)”. But the spiritual aspirant may doubt, “What then is the need for spiritual exercises?” Those who think of the Lord with devotion can overcome any type of inherited or accumulated karma. With His grace, they can experience even unattainable bliss. Do not doubt the usefulness of spiritual discipline; it can never be fruitless – no, not for anyone! Hold firm to that conviction. Weder Frieden noch Hingabe können durch einen anderen erlangt werden; jeder muss sie für sich selbst schaffen und entwickeln. Dennoch sollte man auch die Gnade Gottes haben, die grundlegend ist. Wie es in den Upanishaden heißt: „Derjenige, den Er auswählt, bekommt sie (Yameva vrunute tena labhyah)“. Aber der spirituelle Aspirant mag zweifeln: „Wozu dann die spirituellen Übungen?“ Diejenigen, die mit Hingabe an den Herrn denken, können jede Art von ererbtem oder angesammeltem Karma überwinden. Mit Seiner Gnade können sie sogar unerreichbare Glückseligkeit erfahren. Zweifelt nicht an der Nützlichkeit spiritueller Disziplin; sie kann niemals fruchtlos sein – nein, für niemanden! Haltet fest an dieser Überzeugung. Unerschütterliche Hingabe wird die Gnade des Herrn gewinnen. Gajendra ist ein Beispiel dafür.
