Do not select tonics and drugs for the illness you have diagnosed as yours and believing in the labels and advertisements, do not start using them. Take the advice of a doctor who has known the peculiar problems of your body and its upkeep; accept his diagnosis and his prescription with full faith. Such a one is called the Guru; he will help the process of removing the veil. When the veil is removed, God can be experienced everywhere in full. When someone told Socrates that he could not see God in the sky or in the upper regions of space, which were pointed out by men as the dwelling place of the Deity, he said that He can be seen only by wearing a three-fold lens over the eye: bhakti or love or adoration; viveka or discrimination; and vairagya or renunciation. Prahlada wore these lenses and he saw Him everywhere, in pillars and plants. His father had bandaged his own eye with cynical doubt and so he could not see Him. – Divine Discourse, Oct 20, 1966.

Wählt keine Stärkungsmittel und Medikamente für die Krankheit, die ihr selbst diagnostiziert habt, und glaubt nicht an die Etiketten und die Werbung; nehmt sie nicht ein. Nehmt den Rat eines Arztes an, der die besonderen Probleme eures Körpers und seiner Erhaltung kennt; akzeptiert voller Vertrauen seine Diagnose und seine Verschreibung. Ein solcher Arzt wird Guru genannt; er wird bei der Beseitigung des Schleiers helfen. Wenn der Schleier entfernt ist, kann Gott überall in vollem Umfang erfahren werden. Als jemand zu Sokrates sagte, dass er Gott nicht im Himmel oder in den oberen Regionen des Raumes sehen könne, die von den Menschen als Wohnort der Gottheit bezeichnet wurden, sagte er, dass man ihn nur sehen könne, wenn man eine dreifache Linse vor dem Auge trage: Bhakti (Liebe, Anbetung), Viveka (Unterscheidung) und Vairagya (Entsagung). Prahlada trug diese Linsen, und er sah Ihn überall, in Säulen und Pflanzen. Sein Vater hatte sein eigenes Auge mit zynischen Zweifeln verbunden und konnte Ihn deshalb nicht sehen.
