So long as you have a trace of ego in you, you cannot see the Lord clearly. That is the curtain which Saint Tyagaraja prayed to Lord Venkateshwara to remove from his mind. Egoism will be destroyed if you constantly tell yourself, ‘It is He, not I’, ‘He is the force; I am but the instrument’. Keep His Name always on the tongue; contemplate His glory whenever you see or hear anything beautiful or grand; see in everyone the Lord Himself moving in that form. Do not talk evil of others, see only good in them. Welcome every chance to help others, to console others, and to encourage others along the spiritual path. Be humble, do not become proud of your wealth, status, authority, learning or caste. Dedicate all your physical possessions and mental skills and intellectual attainments to the service of the Lord and to the Lord’s manifold manifestations. – Divine Discourse, Aug 13, 1964

Solange ihr eine Spur von Ego in euch habt, könnt ihr den Herrn nicht klar sehen. Das ist der Vorhang, um den der heilige Tyagaraja zu Lord Venkateshwara betete, um ihn von seinem Geist zu entfernen. Der Egoismus wird zerstört, wenn ihr euch ständig sagt: „Er ist es, nicht ich“, „Er ist die Kraft, ich bin nur das Instrument“. Behaltet Seinen Namen immer auf der Zunge; kontempliere Seine Herrlichkeit, wann immer ihr etwas Schönes oder Großartiges seht oder hört; seht in jedem den Herrn selbst, der sich in dieser Gestalt bewegt. Sprecht nicht schlecht über andere, seht nur das Gute in ihnen. Nehmt jede Gelegenheit wahr, anderen zu helfen, andere zu trösten und sie auf dem spirituellen Weg zu ermutigen. Seid demütig, seid nicht stolz auf euren Reichtum, euren Status, eure Autorität, eure Bildung oder eure Gesellschaftsklasse. Widmet all euren physischen Besitz, eure geistigen Fähigkeiten und intellektuellen Errungenschaften dem Dienst am Herrn und den vielfältigen Manifestationen des Herrn.
