Students should try to develop the powers latent in them. The educated men of today believe in what they read in novels and newspapers, what they see in films, and even in the whimsical words of a passerby. But they have no faith in God. This is a great misfortune. Those who believe in the words of an astrologer or a purohit, do not trust the words of the Veda Mata (Divine Vedic mother), who has taught the four great truths: “Tat twam asi, Prajnanam Brahma, Aham Brahmasmi, Ayam Atma Brahma” (Thou Art That, Consciousness is Brahman, I am Divine, This Self is the Omni-Self), which declare: “O son, you are Brahman (Absolute Truth) itself.” The educated waste their life by developing faith in petty mundane things and by refusing to develop faith in the wisdom to be gained by divine power and spiritual knowledge. It is in order to impart true, ideal education, and mould the students as ideal citizens for the service of the country that the Sathya Sai Educational Institutions have been set up. – Divine Discourse, Nov 22, 1984.

Die Studenten sollten versuchen, die in ihnen schlummernden Kräfte zu entwickeln. Die gebildeten Menschen von heute glauben an das, was sie in Romanen und Zeitungen lesen, an das, was sie in Filmen sehen, und sogar an die launigen Worte eines Passanten. Aber sie haben keinen Glauben an Gott. Das ist ein großes Unglück. Diejenigen, die an die Worte eines Astrologen oder eines Purohit glauben, vertrauen nicht den Worten der Veda Mata (Göttliche Vedische Mutter), die die vier großen Wahrheiten gelehrt hat: “Tat twam asi, Prajnanam Brahma, Aham Brahmasmi, Ayam Atma Brahma” (Du bist Das, das Bewusstsein ist Brahman, ich bin göttlich, dieses Selbst ist das Omni-Selbst), die besagen: “O Sohn, du bist Brahman (die absolute Wahrheit) selbst.” Die Gebildeten vergeuden ihr Leben, indem sie Glauben an unbedeutende weltliche Dinge entwickeln und sich weigern, Glauben an die Weisheit zu entwickeln, die durch göttliche Kraft und spirituelles Wissen gewonnen werden kann. Die Sathya-Sai-Bildungsinstitute wurden gegründet, um eine wahre, ideale Bildung zu vermitteln und die Studenten zu idealen Bürgern für den Dienst am Land zu formen. – Sri Sathya Sai, 22.
