Om is the sound of the movement of stars in the firmament; it is the sound that manifested when the dawn of creative will stirred the Nirakara (the Attributeless) into activity. As a matter of fact, every little disturbance of equilibrium produces sound, however minute. The meeting of the eyelids when the eye winks results in sound, however faint. There are infinitesimally faint sounds which no ear can hear. So, you can understand that when the Elements originated and Creation started, the sound Om was produced. That sound is the primal, the primaeval One. When you are in the dual world, trying to overcome the duality, you identify ‘Him’ with ‘yourself’ by the japam of soham; when the ‘I’-consciousness and the ‘He’- consciousness disappear, you repeat only Om, that is to say, Soham minus Sah (He) and aham (I). That is the experience you need and you claim you crave for; but your activities and behaviour, your routine and road indicate that you are not sincere!

Om ist der Klang der Bewegung der Sterne am Firmament; es ist der Klang, der sich manifestierte, als die Morgendämmerung des schöpferischen Willens das Nirakara (das Eigenschaftslose) zur Aktivität anregte. Tatsächlich erzeugt jede kleine Störung des Gleichgewichts einen Klang, wie leise auch immer. Das Zusammentreffen der Augenlider, wenn das Auge zwinkert, erzeugt einen Klang, auch wenn er noch so schwach ist. Es gibt unendlich leise Töne, die kein Ohr hören kann. Ihr könnt also verstehen, dass, als die Elemente entstanden und die Schöpfung begann, der Klang Om erzeugt wurde. Dieser Klang ist das Ursprüngliche, das Ursprüngliche Eine. Wenn ihr euch in der dualen Welt befindet und versucht, die Dualität zu überwinden, identifiziert ihr ‚Ihn‘ mit ‚euch‘ durch das Japa des So’ham; wenn das ‚Ich‘-Bewusstsein und das ‚Er‘-Bewusstsein verschwinden, wiederholt ihr nur Om, das heißt, So’ham minus Sah (Er) und aham (ich). Das ist die Erfahrung, die ihr braucht und von der ihr behauptet, dass ihr euch danach sehntet; aber eure Aktivitäten und euer Verhalten, eure Routine und euer Weg zeigen, dass ihr nicht aufrichtig seid!
