Kabir was weaving a yellow silk garment for his Lord Rama. He had to work the loom alone, by hand. He recited “Rama Rama Rama” and went on weaving ceaselessly. The cloth became twenty yards long, but Kabir didn’t stop. His penance continued unabated, and the garment was becoming longer. The bliss of the craft and devotion to his Lord was enough food and drink for his sustenance! When he gave it to the temple priest for clothing the idol of Rama, the garment was just the right length and breadth, not a finger breadth more! Such men are the mainsprings of the joy that spiritual persons fill themselves with, in India. The home must resound to the name of Govinda; otherwise, it is just a cave (Guha), where wild animals dwell. The body needs a house, but your body is itself a house. In that house too, the Name of Govinda must be heard, or else it is a mud-pot (Ghata), not a human body! – Divine Discourse, Feb 08, 1963.

Kabir webte gerade ein gelbes Seidengewand für seinen Herrn Rama. Er musste den Webstuhl allein mit der Hand bedienen. Er rezitierte „Rama Rama Rama“ und webte unaufhörlich weiter. Der Stoff wurde zwanzig Meter lang, aber Kabir hörte nicht auf. Seine Buße ging unvermindert weiter, und das Gewand wurde immer länger. Die Glückseligkeit des Handwerks und die Hingabe an seinen Herrn waren genug Essen und Trinken für seinen Lebensunterhalt! Als er es dem Tempelpriester gab, um die Statue von Rama zu bekleiden, hatte das Gewand genau die richtige Länge und Breite, nicht einen Fingerbreit mehr! Solche Menschen sind die Triebfedern der Freude, mit der sich spirituelle Menschen in Indien anfüllen. Das Heim muss mit dem Namen Govindas widerklingen, sonst ist es nur eine Höhle (Guha), in der wilde Tiere hausen. Der Körper braucht ein Haus, aber euer Körper ist selbst ein Haus. Auch in diesem Haus muss der Name Govindas erklingen, sonst ist es ein Lehmtopf (Ghata), kein menschlicher Körper!
