What precious lesson can we learn from a child which is fond of its toys? Bhagawan sweetly implores us with a powerful message. The Puranas and the epics teach the path of devotion and surrender. They ask that man should do every deed in a spirit of dedication. Allow the wind of doubt or the sun of despair to affect the pot of Ananda (bliss) you have filled, and it will evaporate quickly. But keep the pot in the cool waters of good company and good deeds; it can be preserved undiminished forever. Ananda too grows when you dwell on it in silence and recapitulate the circumstances which yielded it. That is why manana (recapitulation) is held so important as a part of spiritual effort. Like the child which throws off its toys and starts crying, you too must realise the paltriness of the toys of fame and fortune and call out for the Mother. The child feels that all else is trash before the love of the Mother and the blessedness of her presence. One should not aspire for anything less. – Divine Discourse, Jul 02, 1966.

Welche wertvolle Lektion können wir von einem Kind lernen, das sein Spielzeug liebt? Bhagavan beschwört uns auf süße Weise mit einer kraftvollen Botschaft. Die Puranas und die Epen lehren den Weg der Hingabe und des sich Ergebens. Sie fordern, dass der Mensch jede Tat im Geiste der Hingabe tun soll. Erlaubt dem Wind des Zweifels und der Sonne der Verzweiflung, auf das Gefäß mit Ananda (Glückseligkeit) einzuwirken, das ihr gefüllt habt, und Ananda wird schnell verdunsten. Aber bewahrt den Topf im kühlen Wasser guter Gesellschaft und guter Taten auf, und er kann für immer unvermindert erhalten bleiben. Auch Ananda wächst, wenn ihr in der Stille darin verweilt und die Umstände rekapituliert, die Ananda hervorgebracht haben. Deshalb wird Manana (Rekapitulation) als Teil der spirituellen Anstrengung für so wichtig gehalten. Wie das Kind, das sein Spielzeug wegwirft und zu weinen beginnt, müsst auch ihr erkennen, wie armselig das Spielzeug von Ruhm und Reichtum ist, und nach der Mutter rufen. Das Kind spürt, dass alles andere Schund ist vor der Liebe der Mutter und dem Segen ihrer Gegenwart. Man sollte nach nichts Geringerem streben. Sri Sathya Sai, 2. Juli 1966
