God is the originator of both joy and grief. Without His will no blade of grass can waver in the wind! If this Truth is firmly established in the heart, one can get the unique bliss of liberation. God gives everything; whatever we get is His Grace. You have no right to judge whether what you get is good or bad. In order to have God so firmly installed within you, worship of idols or pictures, meditation on His Glory, recitation of His Name, and so on, are all useful as preliminary sadhana. I won’t say that temples or houses of worship, altars and shrines where God is invoked and adored are not needed. Until the letters are learnt, illustrations are necessary in primers. The letter A is learnt in association with the image of the apple printed above it. On that account, you can’t be constrained to remember that particular apple whenever you think of ‘A’!

Gott ist der Urheber sowohl von Freud als auch Leid. Ohne seinen Willen kann kein Grashalm im Wind schwanken! Wenn diese Wahrheit fest im Herzen verankert ist, kann man die einzigartige Glückseligkeit der Befreiung erlangen. Gott gibt alles; was auch immer wir bekommen, ist seine Gnade. Ihr habt kein Recht, zu beurteilen, ob das, was ihr bekommt, gut oder schlecht ist. Um Gott so fest in euch zu verankern, sind die Verehrung von Götzen oder Bildern, die Meditation über seine Herrlichkeit, die Rezitation seines Namens und so weiter als vorbereitendes Sadhana nützlich. Ich will nicht sagen, dass Tempel und Gotteshäuser, Altäre und Schreine, in denen Gott angerufen und angebetet wird, nicht gebraucht werden. Bis man die Buchstaben gelernt hat, sind Illustrationen in den Fibeln notwendig. Den Buchstaben A lernt man in Verbindung mit dem Bild des Apfels, das darüber steht. Deshalb kann man nicht gezwungen sein, sich an diesen Apfel zu erinnern, wenn man an ‚A‘ denkt!
