What is the immortal part of man? Is it the wealth he has accumulated, the residences he has built, the physique he has developed, the health he has acquired, or the family he has reared? No, all that he has done, developed or earned are not going to last; he has to leave them all to the ravages of time. He cannot take with him even a handful of earth, the earth he loved so much. Discover the immortal ‘I’ and know that it is the spark of God in you; live in the companionship of the vast measureless Supreme and you will be rendered vast and measureless. When you hold a currency note in your hand and say proudly, “This is mine” that note laughs at you, for, it says, “O, how many thousand people have I known, who have prided themselves like this!” The body is but a tent; don’t fondle that delusion. Was ist der unsterbliche Teil des Menschen? Ist es der Reichtum, den er angehäuft hat, die Häuser, die er gebaut hat, der Körperbau, den er entwickelt hat, die Gesundheit, die er erworben hat, oder die Familie, die er großgezogen hat? Nein, all das, was er getan, entwickelt und verdient hat, ist nicht von Dauer; er muss es dem Zahn der Zeit überlassen. Er kann nicht einmal eine Handvoll Erde mitnehmen, die Erde, die er so sehr geliebt hat. Entdeckt das unsterbliche ‚Ich‘ und wisst, dass es der Funke Gottes in euch ist; lebt in der Gesellschaft des unermesslichen, maßlosen Höchsten und ihr werdet unermesslich und maßlos werden. Wenn ihr einen Geldschein in der Hand haltet und stolz sagt: „Das ist meiner“, dann lacht euch der Schein aus, denn er sagt: „Oh, wie viele tausend Menschen habe ich gekannt, die sich so stolz gemacht haben!“ Der Körper ist nur ein Zelt; liebäugelt nicht mit dieser Täuschung. Erinnert euch an den Dehi (Bewohner), der darin wohnt und ihn aktiv macht, ihn zum Nachdenken bringt und euch zum Handeln befähigt.
