The Buddhi (Intellect) has to be kept sharp, clear and straight. There are four directions in which the intellect guides man: (1) Swartha-sukha-buddhi – this indicates the fully egoistic nature, where the Individual does not care for even his wife and children, but is eager to fulfill his own needs first and foremost. Then, we have (2) Swartha-parartha-sukha-buddhi – this allows some consideration for the happiness of others also. The next variety is (3) Parartha-buddhi – those who have this, seek for others as much happiness as they seek for themselves. They are prepared to undergo any trouble to secure for others too what they feel will grant them happiness. The next is (4) Adhyatmic-buddhi (spiritual intellect) – this leads man ever on the path of renunciation and service, for, they alone lead to Spiritual advancement. Die Buddhi (der Intellekt) muss scharf, klar und geradling gehalten werden. Es gibt vier Richtungen, in die der Intellekt den Menschen führt: (1) Swartha-sukha-buddhi – dies zeigt die völlig egoistische Natur an, in der sich das Individuum nicht einmal um seine Frau und seine Kinder kümmert, sondern in erster Linie darauf bedacht ist, seine eigenen Bedürfnisse zu erfüllen. Dann haben wir (2) Swartha-parartha-sukha-buddhi – dies erlaubt auch eine gewisse Rücksichtnahme auf das Glück der anderen. Die nächste Variante ist (3) Parartha-buddhi – diejenigen, die dies haben, suchen für andere genauso viel Glück wie für sich selbst. Sie sind bereit, jede Anstrengung auf sich zu nehmen, um auch für andere das zu erreichen, was sie für ihr eigenes Glück halten. Der nächste ist (4) Adhyatmic-buddhi (spiritueller Intellekt) – dieser führt den Menschen immer auf den Pfad der Entsagung und des Dienens, denn sie allein führen zum spirituellen Fortschritt. Der adhyatmische Intellekt erkennt die Einheit der Schöpfung, und so wird das, was der andere fühlt, auch vom Einzelnen in gleichem Maße empfunden.
